Great for the home brewer or or anyone that requires the purest water for their drinking, cooking or brewing needs.
Reverse Osmosis (RO) use membrane technology to filter out the things in the water that typically impair the end result – impurities such as sodium, chlorine, minerals, calcium, chloride, etc.) RO differs from traditional filtration methods in that it has the ability to remove 98% + of dissolved solids, heavy metals and other impurities.
The RO process works by forcing water under pressure through a specialised synthetic semi-permeable membrane. The membrane is effective in that it has the ability to attract water molecules and repel dissolved impurities, even those smaller than the water molecules themselves. With an RO system, the impurities are flushed down the drain, keeping bacteria from building up and odour problems from accumulating in waste water.
The RO system oxygenates water leaving it with a fresh “lively” taste, as compared to distilled water which can have a very flat taste.
This system produces approximately 190 litres per day under the following conditions:
- 100 psi
- Water temperature of 21 C
- 500ppm TDS
- Nominal rejection rate over 96%
- TFC Membrane
System Limitations:
- Pressure range – 40psi – 100psi
- Flow rate – 1.5Lpm – 3Lpm
- Temperature range – 5C – 38C
- otal Dissolved Solids (TDS) – 500ppm max
As with all systems, this should not be used with water that is Microbiologically unsafe or with water of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system. Systems which are certified for cyst reduction may be used on disinfected water that may contain filterable cysts.
