The Le Nez Du Café collection includes the most typical aromas found in the world’s top coffees. Aromas and aroma identification are essential to the quality of a product; it is important to be able to recognize them in order to master tasting.
This kit will enable you to fully appreciate coffee and describe it with ease.
Smell each of the aromas in the collection carefully, one by one. The more often you use them, the more acute your sense of smell will become and the easier you will assimilate both the scents in coffee (perceived through the nose) and its aromas (sensed on the palate).
This training will enable you to provide a clear description of what you are experiencing – you can now communicate.
The booklet
It describes the main features of each aroma and explains to which aromatic family they belong, the scent reference used as a basis for the sample and where these aromas occur in coffee from various countries.
You will also discover how the sense of smell works and how important it is; a methodical approach to tasting; the art of the farmer, the roaster and the skill required in preparing coffee.
A game
Pick up a bottle at random and try to identify the scent. This is an amusing exercise that will stir half-forgotten memories and you will soon get the knack!
For 20 years now, Jean Lenoir has been acknowledged by professionals and amateurs worldwide for his ground-breaking words on the sense of smell. Following the Le Nez du Vin, the Federacion Nacional de Cafeteros de Colombia suggested that they both join forces to present the 36 most significant aromas in coffee. This was achieved via a scientific analysis carried out by David Guermonprez, and a taste analysis carried out by Eric Verdier. This innovative work has been approved by experts and scientists in the field.
The taste and smell of coffee deserved to be researched in as much depth as wine. This research contributes to the understanding and promotion of a product of similar prestige. Our kit offers a simple, intelligent and entertaining way to learn based on the education of the senses. The Nez du Café makes it easy for everyone.
Jean Lenoir has chosen Roger Pfund to present his scented symphony. This designer of talent has managed to combine the functional aspect of the work with the purity of design.
