How are orders shipped?

We use trackable Australia Post satchels and Parcel Post for smaller items and Transdirect road freight for large, heavy items. Shipping options will be displayed at checkout and estimated transit times vary according to shipping option chosen.

Do you offer free shipping?

Subsidised shipping is offered on all coffee and cocoa orders. Free shipping for these orders when you spend $180.

Yes. You can collect your order from our warehouse at 13/148 Arthurton Road, Northcote VIC 3070 during trading hours.

Do you accept change-of-mind returns?

Accepted Answer

Please choose carefully as we do not normally accept return of goods where you have simply changed your mind or chosen poorly. Should we decide to accept a return, a restocking fee of 20% plus any unrecoverable credit card charges applies. We cannot accept returns after 7 days, on used equipment, or on equipment without its original packaging.

How often should I service my espresso machine?

We recommend home machines be serviced at 2-year intervals. More complex pressure profiling machines should be serviced each year. Office machines should also be serviced yearly as they have a tougher workload.

What water should I use in my espresso machine?

Accepted Answer

Water quality directly affects machine health and coffee taste. A good filter for espresso should address sediment reduction, chemical reduction (chlorine and chloramines), and total hardness reduction. Standard benchtop or fridge filters are rarely sufficient. Avoid using very pure water such as distilled or rainwater.

Should I descale my machine?

We strongly advise against descaling unless there is a specific issue and you know exactly what you are doing. Best practice is to use appropriate water filtration to slow or eliminate scale accumulation in the first place. Never use citric acid or supermarket descalers such as CLR.

What grinder setting should I use?

Accepted Answer

There is no single correct number — grind setting varies between machines of the same model, and is influenced by your technique, coffee variety, burr age and other factors. Use espresso taste as your guide: sour or watery means grind finer; bitter means grind coarser.

What are the recommended espresso extraction standards?

Accepted Answer

General guide: Espresso — 7g+ dose, 25–30 ml in 25–30 seconds. Doppio espresso — 14g+ dose, 50–60 ml in 25–30 seconds. Adjust to taste: sour/watery = grind finer; bitter = grind coarser.
