I'm an enthusiast and am passionate about home coffee. I founded Talk Coffee in 2000, for enthusiasts. Everything I do comes from a genuine love of the craft.
Talk Coffee specialises in premium prosumer espresso equipment for your home or workplace, with a deep focus on coffee roasting, precision machinery and the finer details that make a great cup.
I'm Chris and I bring formal training qualifications and hands-on experience across Science, hospitality, education and specialty coffee and I'm committed to ensuring you receive advice you can trust.

I won't push you toward the most expensive option. If a simpler machine is the better fit, that's what you'll hear. The right advice matters more to me than the sale.
The long view
Your machine is an investment.
I know times are tough. Spending a few thousand dollars on an espresso machine is a real decision, and I don't take it lightly when someone trusts me with it.
The machines I sell are all exceptional. A well-chosen, well-maintained espresso machine shouldn't end up in landfill after five years. It stays with you, pulls better shots as you learn it, and is still going strong when you're genuinely ready for whatever comes next.
Part of what you're getting from me is exactly that - how to keep it running right. Water treatment, service intervals, grinder care. I'll teach you what you need to know.
The right machine, not the one with the biggest margin.
My recommendations are based on your setup, your budget and how you make coffee. Not on what makes the most commercial sense for me.
I've been curious about coffee since I was five.
I had my first cup when I was five years old. I didn't know what I was drinking, only that I wanted another one. I'm still like that. Every new process, every new variety, every new piece of kit. When you buy from Talk Coffee, that curiosity comes with the machine.
We don't carry everything. We choose very carefully.
Every brand on this site is there because it's well-built, backed by outstanding importer support, and made by a manufacturer I genuinely respect. A smaller range, chosen well, beats a big catalogue chosen carelessly.
The Talk Coffee approach
Honest advice is the product.
I've been in this industry long enough to know that the best sale is the right one. Many of my clients are on their third or fourth machine. They keep coming back because I've never pushed them towards something that wasn't right for them.
If a $2,000 machine will serve you better than the $6,000 one, I'll tell you. If you don't need an upgrade yet, I'll tell you that too.
No manufacturer has produced a perfect machine. You knowing what I'd change about any machine you're considering is more important to me than any superlative. My job isn't to sell - it's to help you make the right choice.
No hard sell. Ever.
I don't work on commission. There's no sales team pushing targets. When I recommend something, it's because it genuinely fits your setup and the way you make coffee.
I'll downsell if it's the right call.
A regular client once came in ready to spend $8,000. I sent him home with a $3,200 machine. He's still using it five years later and pulls a better shot than most cafés.
You get me. Not a ticket system.
Call or email and you reach Chris. No scripts, no hold music, no escalation path. Just a straight answer from someone who's spent 25 years obsessing over this.

"Picked up a Rocket Appartamento TCA from Chris at TalkCoffee. His review on the website was a great resource as I was deciding on this HX machine compared to a few others. I emailed asking about stock, and when I decided to purchase it and put the order through Chris was super helpful and responsive. When the machine was ready for pickup he even stayed open a little longer to give me time to get to the shop to pick it up. His space is also amazing, kicking myself for not getting onto it sooner! I can tell Chris is very experienced and passionate about what he does, look forward to visiting in person more often. Highly recommend!"
