If you're close to TC, you'd know that my home daily driver is a beautiful, fully restored Faema Urania. It replaced a heavily modded LM Linea Mini with gear pump pressure-profiling- but that had to go.

That too was rapidly upgraded at significant expense with my preferred e-61 configuration of toggle valves. Sadly the Urania suffered a minor electrical glitch which necessitated a trip back to the service lab. I needed another loaner. On offer is some temperature control via a discreet multi-function switch block located beneath the chassis. This allows the user to easily toggle between three PID-controlled preset boiler temperatures (typically 120°C, 124°C, and 128°C), allowing for some heat compensation for different roast profiles.
This same hidden switch block controls the ECO mode and allows you to activate or deactivate the built-in pre-infusion. Meanwhile, the minimalist front display serves as a highly functional shot counter during extraction and provides essential alerts, such as a low water warning for the generous 2.8-litre tank.

Mictofoam for milky drinks is effortless with one of the best steam tips in the business. The 1.6L boiler provides robust, dry steam capable of easily creating outstanding microfoam. A quick hygiene rinse before loading the portafilter is all that's required to deliver optimal temperature, ensuring sweet, syrupy, and balanced shots without bitter or burnt overtones.
The Showdown: Ergonomics and Style
It is impossible to look at the Profitec Jump without comparing it directly to its sister machine, the ECM Mechanika Slim PID. Given that both brands roll off the same manufacturing lines, the internal component quality and standard of engineering are practically identical. However, there are distinct differences in the user experience.
One of the most significant advantages of the Profitec Jump is the use of joystick-style toggle valves for steam and hot water. These toggles offer superior ease of use compared to the traditional twist knobs found on the ECM.
