Kees van der Westen has been producing engineering-forward espresso machines for over 20 years, near Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The Speedster is one of the finest single-group espresso machines available anywhere, completely hand-built, miniaturised commercial quality, with multi-boiler technology, a saturated group head, user-programmable PID brew temperature and low-pressure variable pre-infusion, enclosed in an industrial design aesthetic unlike anything else in the category.

Every component is custom-designed by Kees van der Westen. The saturated group head operates as an integrated part of the brew boiler, providing remarkable thermal stability and temperature precision in a compact form. The revolutionary POM dispersion plate is thermally neutral and resists fouling from coffee oils, keeping each shot clean and the machine easier to maintain day to day. Coffee quality is equal to or superior to most commercial machines.

Built entirely to order with a long list of custom options. Requires a dedicated 15A circuit, direct mains plumbing and under-bench space for the external rotary pump and motor.

Key features:

  • Completely hand-built to order: all parts custom-designed by Kees van der Westen

  • Multi-boiler: 2.1L brew boiler + 3.5L steam boiler, both thermally insulated stainless steel

  • Saturated group head as part of the brew boiler: exceptional thermal stability

  • PID electronic control for fast, user-adjustable brew water temperature

  • Low-pressure variable pre-infusion (Idro-Matic available as optional upgrade)

  • Revolutionary POM dispersion plate: thermally neutral, resists coffee oil fouling

  • External rotary pump and motor: requires under-bench installation

  • Must be plumbed to mains water supply (no internal tank)

  • Wide range of custom options and finishes available on request

  • Dimensions: 50cm × 65cm × 37cm (W × D × H), approximately 45kg

  • 220–240V / 50Hz, approximately 3500W, requires 15A circuit

  • Designed and hand-built near Amsterdam by Kees van der Westen
