Roast Intensity Scale
Understanding roast levels helps you choose the right coffee for your palate and brew method. Talk Coffee uses a roast intensity scale from 1 (lightest) to 5 (darkest).
Light Roast (1–2)
Higher acidity, fruit-forward flavours, lighter body. Origin character is most pronounced. Best suited to filter brewing methods — pour over, AeroPress, batch brew.
Medium Roast (3)
Balanced acidity and body. Caramel and stone-fruit notes common. Works well as espresso and filter. Our most versatile roast level for home baristas.
Dark Roast (4–5)
Rich body, reduced acidity, chocolate and caramel flavours. Performs well in milk-based drinks. Most forgiving in terms of extraction.
